On 5 April 1242 Alexander Nevsky fought Teutonic Knights on the frozen Lake Peipus. In the same stretch of years Mongol armies, having devastated Hungary in 1241, turned back after the death of Ögedei Khan. Two facts. The ice is dated. The withdrawal is a span with a louder neighbor.
