Cipher
Gematria is the craft of giving letters fixed values and adding a word into a total. This house uses four faces, the same four the sister chronicle uses: English Ordinal, Reverse Ordinal, Full Reduction, Reverse Reduction. The arithmetic is shown as letters over numbers, because that is how a question was seen. It is not how a century is explained.

The title page of Locke’s Essay Concerning Humane Understanding is dated 1690. Publication began in late 1689. That bibliographic fact is ordinary. After the name had already totaled 42, the year was visible as a year that contains 69 without ending in 69.
1690 is Near Field. It is not an x69 year. It is how the question arrived: what else happened in the years ending in 69?

JOHN LOCKE totaled 42. That 42 did not explain a century. It asked what else happened in the 69 years. 42 helped us notice 69. Now 69 gives a method for testing 42. That sentence is this archive’s discovery path. It is not a claim about the centuries.
SATURN holds both seals on two faces: reverse ordinal 69, reverse reduction 42. LOVE IS THE ANSWER full-reduces to 69 and reverse-reduces to 84, which is two times 42. Reciprocity and structure, eros and logos, on one phrase.
6 and 9 are inversions of one another. 69 looks like turning toward. 42 is the frame that keeps asking. 420 and 690 are the same seals at the next scale. 1690 contains 690 once the thousands are set down. 142 contains 42. The lattice keeps opening because that is what an aperture does.
Wonder, then check, then wonder better. Do not lose the eros. Do not pretend the arithmetic is a cause.
