On the Danube in 369, Valens campaigned against the Tervingi under Athanaric. Ammianus records the war. The peace itself is dated by some to that year and by others to early 370. The month is not settled here.
How we know
The 369 campaign is Ammianus 27.5. Calling the river meeting a settled 369 peace would be sharper than the scholarship. Late 369 and early 370 are both argued.
